TOORO AMERICAN ASSOCIATION CONVENTION AND FUNDRAISING GALA

 

This Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, May 26, 2018, and Sunday, May 27, 2018), Tooro American Association Inc. (TAA) will hold its 1st Convention in the Washington DC suburb of Silver Spring, Maryland (Sheraton Hotel, 8777 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910).

TAA is a non-profit organization based in the Washington DC metropolitan area (DMV). Its purpose is to provide a platform that brings together Tooro Diaspora and Friends of Tooro – to know each other/network, and to empower each other and our communities – here in North America and in our motherland, Tooro.

This year’s convention theme is, ‘Celebrating our Culture. Empowering our Community’.

The Convention will be a two-day combined family and business weekend. There will be seminars and strategy sessions on key topics on financial literacy, employment, education, health and life insurance, investment opportunities, and networking – culminating in a Sunday evening Fundraising Gala for Incubators for the Neonatal Ward at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital, in Fort Portal, Uganda.

There will be dinner dances on both Saturday and Sunday nights. Entertainment will be anchored by accomplished New York-based entertainer, DJ Clein – and, will feature Traditional/Tooro Folklore songs and dances, and other cultural performances (Kuguruka Amakondeere, Kwebuga Engabu, Kuteera Orunyege, Kucekeca Enyamuziga, etc.).

Sunday, May 27, 2018 features a free-of-charge community picnic; and, a mega Soccer Match between Tooro (Lions) and Buganda (Ggwanga Mujje United).

Batooro and Friends of Tooro in the Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area (and beyond), come join us – let’s celebrate Memorial Day weekend in style – Tooro Style!!!
