PRESS RELEASE March 9, 2020 CANCELLATION OF THE TOORO AMERICAN ASSOCIATION 2020 CONVENTION

Tooro American Association Inc. (TAA) regrets to inform the public that the TAA Convention scheduled for this year’s Memorial Day weekend (May 22, 2020 to May 25 2020) has been cancelled.
Effective immediately, all TAA Ad-hoc Convention Organizing Committees (COCs) are requested to stand down.
On March 6, 2020, the State of Maryland (our convention location) declared a state of emergency, to deal with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) global health scare; travel advisory and restrictions are in place in many countries – including the US and Uganda; and now, US Federal government health experts are asking older Americans (and those with pre-existing health conditions) to stay indoors.
Due to the uncertainty and closeness of the event date, the TAA Board has concluded that we will not have sufficient comfort that the authorities will not force us to cancel this event.
We appreciate the TAA Members and Friends of Tooro who had already purchased their convention tickets. And, the organization will refund 100% of your registration money.
For those with hotel bookings, please e-mail us (info@tooroamericanassociation.org) your hotel reservation details; and the organization will work out a plan with Sheraton Hotel, on how to handle those (hotel reservation) cancellations.
The organization will decide and communicate, when and where, the TAA Convention will take place next year.
More information and updates will be posted on our website – www.tooroamericanassociation.org, and on other TAA online platforms.
Thank you.
